Math Wiz!

Well, Ethan is officially a math wiz!

Earlier, I was talking to Daddy when I said "Ugh. I'm so mathematically challenged. I can't even do simple addition." In which Ethan responded "Mommy! One, one. TWO!"

I've been working very hard with him on colors, letters, and counting. It's great to know that he's figured out that one plus one equals two without me having to explain it. Before, it seemed as if he thought specific objects we assigned numbers.

For example:
If I held up block A and said "one", he believed only that specific block was called "one". If I held up block B and said "two", he believed only that specific block was called "two". He would never call block A "two" and would never call block B "one".

When we introduced actual numbers "1" and "2", he realized that anything can be one and any additional object would be two. Though this resulted in the first block shown being "one", second block shown being "two", third block shown being "two", and fourth block shown being "two". At least he understands that if there is more than one object it is no longer considered one. Now we just have work on "more than two objects is going to considered three" until he catches on with the pattern.
