Bacon & Tushie

Today's entry contains two "toddler language" stories and a general update on the family.

This morning I was in the kitchen fixing breakfast for the kids while they played in the playroom (it's an adjacent to the kitchen so I can see them while I'm cooking). I kept hearing Ethan yelling "Tissy, stop! Tissy, no!" I looked over and Ellexa was standing up, holding onto Ethan's pants and diaper. I moved Ellexa over to her Playschool toy station and resumed my cooking. Then I heard "TISSY want bacon?" Before I could turn around Ellexa started crying. I asked Ethan what happened and he said "Tissy want bacon Mommy. Nin nin give Tissy bacon." I was confused, as there was no way he could have gotten bacon, nor was there any in sight. Ellexa stood up while holding onto his pants again and he turned his bottom away from her. He said "OK Tissy get bacon" and he spanked her butt softly! She started crying again. I explained to him that the word he was looking for was spankin', not bacon, and that only Mommy and Daddy are to give spankings when something very bad has been done.

We spent the afternoon working on writing the letters of the alphabet. After we did our general ABC's, we wrote thank you cards for each of the guests invited to Ethan's third birthday party on the 19th. I helped guide his hand for the full sentence, but he signed each card on his own after I demonstrated how to draw each letter out on a separate piece of paper. I was amazed at how well he did! After that was finished, we made a welcome sign for Grandpa and Gramie's visit next week. I drew out boxed letters onto cardboard and let Ethan paint the inside of the letters white. After it dried, he took colored markers and decorated the rest of the box. It was a very relaxed craft day and he did wonderful.

When it came time for dinner, I had ordered take out sushi for myself and the boys ate spicy chicken sandwiches from Chick Fil A. As I was eating my sushi, Ethan kept asking "What's that Mommy? What Mommy eat?" I said "It's Mommy's sushi. I'm having sushi for dinner." His eyes got wide and he said "TOOSHY?! Ew Mommy! No eat TOOSHY!" He was very concerned that I was eating rear-end, not raw fish.
